The Home

My first home!

I grew up in Encinitas, so I have always dreamed of owning a home where I grew up.

This home appeared online and I visited the first open house. There were lots of other people interested in this home. The home has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a big brick patio and yard.

My first impression of the home: vaulted ceilings, spacious master bedroom, tons of natural light, perfect backyard for my plants and roses, but the home needed quite a bit of work to make it more modernized and up to date.

There were water stains, the carpets were dirty, there were 11 eucalyptus trees and three ficus trees in the backyard, the appliances were from the mid-1980s, four of the rooms were covered in wallpaper from floor to ceiling, the master bath had one sink, the home was dusty and vacant for a while, and there was a makeshift room built inside the two-car garage.

I submitted an offer, along with nearly a dozen other potential buyers, and negotiated lots of terms and got the home! I had a two week escrow period. Once escrow closed, I immediately removed the trees, carpet and wallpaper.

After discovering the amount of things it needed (new water pipes in the attic, new electrical switches/outlets/lines, updated cable wires, and a modified gas line to the kitchen) the walls had to be cut open, and we tore up nearly every wall in the house to re-pipe the water. That’s when I decided to remodel this home and make it my dream home.
